What a whirlwind term it has been with public holidays, Easter weekend, June exams, and oh yes – school!
Our value of Unity really shone through in our Soap Box Derby. Teachers and students alike got carried away in the euphoria of pushing and steering the formidable push carts in an effort to try and earn bragging rights for the fastest lap. At the end of the day, it was teamwork that was the real winner.
The Matrics were given the opportunity to host their very own social. Aptly named, BASE was a huge success on the night bringing in 250 teenagers with the echoes of, “Let’s do this again!” When better to have a cold slush puppy than at 23h00 at night in the middle of winter?
Lizzie was a representative from the Emma Sadlier Company who came to speak to our girls on the impact of social media in a world that is forever changing. We laughed along at some silly stories, and our eyes bulged out at some of the serious legal consequences that can affect all who use social media platforms.
And though we have earned the right to stop for a breather, many of our girls still have much to do within the holiday time – our Drummies are heading to Durban for nationals, our World-Scholars are in Vietnam as you read this and our Matrics are heading down to Grahamstown.
Who wants to stop when there are so many exciting things on the go? Perhaps we shouldn’t have holidays at all? Or maybe it’s time for me to pass the baton on to Austen before I get shouted down!
