Where Leadership Meets Purpose
At Grace Trinity School for Girls, leadership isn’t limited to prefects or public speakers - it is a journey that begins in Grade RRR and continues through to Matric. Our Special Programmes are designed to nurture confidence, empathy, initiative, and integrity in every girl.
This is how we develop leaders of purpose - not through competition, but through connection, mentorship, and meaningful responsibility.
Leadership Opportunities in Every Phase
Unlike many schools where leadership is only formalised in high school, Grace Trinity integrates leadership throughout all phases of school life. From classroom responsibilities to campus-wide projects, each girl is encouraged to lead in ways that suit her personality, strengths, and passions.
Our structured approach ensures that girls develop the tools for assertiveness, problem-solving, and collaboration early - giving them a distinct edge as they move through school and into the world.
Primary School Monitors (Grades R–7)
In the Foundation and Intermediate Phases, every girl is entrusted with a meaningful role. These may include:
Grade 7 – primary school monitors and class monitors
Grade 6 – Scholar patrol and library monitors
Grade 6 and 7s are house captains
Each girl is celebrated in assembly and wears a formal badge - reminding them that leadership is about service and consistency, not just status. They receive training, support, and regular check-ins with teachers to help them succeed in their role.
High School Leadership (Grades 8–12)
In our High School phase, leadership is based on a range of different criteria that display their character and discipline. This culminates in the prestigious White Honours Blazer.
Girls apply for leadership roles annually in the second half of their Grade 11 year and are recognised for strengths in areas such as:
Peer mentorship
Spiritual leadership
Environmental stewardship
Academic or cultural involvement
Event and house coordination
Each girl has the opportunity to compile a Leadership Portfolio, a powerful tool that prepares her for life beyond school - whether applying to universities, scholarships, or internships.
The Big Sister Programme
One of our most beloved initiatives, the Big Sister Programme pairs senior girls in Grade 11 with younger students entering the school. This vertical mentorship fosters:
Emotional safety and connection
Confidence in navigating new routines
Real-life leadership practice
A deeper sense of school belonging
From shared homegroup periods to social activities, these relationships leave a lasting impact - often continuing long after graduation.
The Badge System & White Honours Blazer
Our Badge System empowers girls to build their own leadership identities by applying for one of seven different badges aligned with their passions. Badges are awarded throughout the year and celebrated publicly - building accountability and pride.
The White Honours Blazer, awarded in Grade 11 or Grade 12, is the highest symbol of consistent service, leadership, and embodiment of the Grace Trinity values. It recognises not just excellence - but grace, courage, and character.
